Alex Gutteridge I think writer's block comes from trying too hard so I would advise anyone who is suffering to go away and do something completely different for a while.
Alex Gutteridge There are lots of best things but probably the thing I like the most is being in control of my own time.
Alex Gutteridge Read as much as you can and write as much as you can. At the same time give yourself time to dream. I was told off for daydreaming at school but for a writer I think it is an essential ingredient. Also, don't be in a rush. Some books take time to evolve - they too need space.

Alex Gutteridge My most recent book, which I have just completed, is for adults and is part contemporary romance, part ghost story. The idea for this came from a holiday which we took as a family and a solitary walk through a graveyard where I saw some names which resonated.
Alex Gutteridge In all sorts of ways! A snipped of an overheard conversation, something I see fleetingly from a train window, a memory... the list is endless. Luckily the problem is not inspiration but having enough time to create.
