Well, it goes without saying that there are so many choices! I've read and experienced so many fantasy and sci fi worlds that this seems like a daunting question.
But, my favourite answer would have to be Tamriel, the world of The Elder Scrolls games. There is just something about this world that has always stuck out for me and I just love engrossing myself in the lore and history of this rich universe! The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was may favourite of all!

I'm getting the itch for some robust history, so I'd love to dig into Roger Crowley's "Empires of the Sea". I absolutely love the siege of Constantinople and all events surrounding the Mediterranean in the late medieval period, and considering that Mr Crowley nailed the siege's narrative in his "1453" book, this was the natural next step!
I'm also really enjoying "Valley of Embers" and already can't wait to read the next book in the series. Seriously, it's awesome and any fantasy fan should give it a good read! You won't be disappointed!
