Bet Milner I had the worst case of writers block which spanned 18 months after my son was born. I felt very broken as I've never been more than a few weeks max without writing something, usually music and lyrics. I tried many things but in the end, all I could really do was wait it out and hope my creativity hadn't disappeared forever. I acquired some new skills during that time, both as a first time mother and in a professional sense. I focused on the present day and gave myself permission to fail at life a little. I tend to put too much pressure on myself and if you are sleep deprived, healing from surgery and completely overhauling your life in every sense, you really don't want to add any more pressure! So I moped for a while and resigned myself to the fact that chapter had ended. Actually, it was really the beginning of everything for me and I have seized every ounce of creativity since then and tried to polish my work with a critical eye. I think the main thing is, if you aren't happy with what you are writing or are unable to write, it isn't the right time to be doing that so embrace it. You never know, it might just be the calm before the storm!
Bet Milner I'm half way through my third book that currently doesn't have a title. It's a bit more serious than my usual style but I'm enjoying the journey so far. I'm also writing a fourth title which is where I'm getting all the giggles.
Bet Milner This was inspired partly by returning to some dance classes a few years ago and my F/F shipping brain seeing some interesting outcomes for a what if moment about two characters I was particularly rooting for
