Arthur Hoyle How, where, and when did my mother and father meet?
Arthur Hoyle Rochester and Jane, because their love overcomes all obstacles.
Arthur Hoyle The letters from Eve to HM that I used are in Special Collections at UCLA in the Henry Miller Collection. Don't think you will find much about her art there. She also wrote to Vincent Birge and Lawrence Durrell (both collections at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale), and to Anais Nin (Anais Nin Papers, UCLA Special Collections). But, again, I don't think you will find much about her own art. She was usually writing about her life with HM. You might try the Henry Miller Memorial Library.
Arthur Hoyle I have a cordial relationship with both Tony and Val, but did not interview them for the book, although I had several conversations with each of them about their years in Big Sur that gave me insight into the tenor of their family life with both Lepska and Eve.
Arthur Hoyle I was drawn by Miller's voice, by his candor and truthfulness about himself and his experience of life. Also by his flexible style, which he could alter to suit his mood. I've read Dostoevsky, Thoreau, Strindberg, Swift, Krishnamurti, some Buddhist texts. Tried reading Seraphita by Balzac but got bogged down in it.
Arthur Hoyle Finishing the sentence, the paragraph, the chapter, the book.
Arthur Hoyle Profiles of American men and women who have made significant, but under appreciated, contributions to our country's history and culture.
