The thought for writing this book germinated when I realized, while chatting with several friends from the West on social media, that the average reader from the Occident is not aware of the existence of The Mahabharat and The Ramayan, the great epics from India, that have enthralled readers for more than three thousand years and continue to do so even today.
Indeed, there are several books based on the epic, as well as the translation of the whole text available in English. However, the main text is too lengthy and meandering with its story within story structure. Also, some of the books which recount the entire story in modern English are voluminous and forbidding, some are written from the perspective of particular characters, some from a spiritual angle. These, I thought, would not serve as an introductory book for the uninitiated. So I decided to render only the central story related to the main heroes in an adventure form. The stories of other major characters, which are also fascinating, I hope to bring out in a prequel as well as a sequel.
