This is a tough one. And, yes, writer's block is a real thing. Answer: I write through it.
It's like when you go far out in the ocean and the undertow is strong. You decide to come back to shore and you are swimming and kicking and stroking your tushy off, but you don't seem to be making progress....then, suddenly, your feet are on the sand.
I've found that for me if I put it down, and walk away the block seems to be worse, harder to get through.
So, I keep writing, even if I know it's bad and I will edit this entire chapter out later. I keep talking to my characters, letting them meet, clash, bash, etc until all of a sudden I know what happens next. I know what they are gonna say next. Voila! My feet are on the sand!

I am inspired by odd things. I will be checking out in the grocery store and think to myself. What if a woman was just doing her usual day, swiping a can of soup across the scanner and an alien beamed down into the grocery store, looked around and grabbed her to take with him? (And yes, I am always thinking about a romance as I do this!) What would that look like? How would she feel? What would they say? I have always been fascinated by the extraordinary and where it overlaps with the ordinary. I find the contrast between them intriguing.
My mind is constantly saying: "What if?"
So needless to say, I am that absentminded person that walks off leaving a bag at the checkout. Or drives off with a bag on top of their car. It's cause I am busy in my head crafting alien abductions at the grocery story!

I am finishing my short read "Outfox Your Mate" for Amazon Kindle. It is about the sniper Eli and finding her mate, very unexpectedly! "Outfox Your Mate" begins a new series called Chimeric Mates. These will be short reads that take place in the Chimeric world that you were introduced to in "Fierce Alpha."
Also, I will be releasing an extra special short read for Valentine's Day so keep an eye out.
My next novel is "Hidden Alpha" part of the Chimeric Alphas series. It is all about Keegan (who you met in Fierce Alpha) and his mates. I am working on that. This will be published in the spring.
If you are interested in the cover for "Outfox Your Mate", I posted the cover on my website (saraspark.com) and it looks fabulous!
