Sometimes it's just a feeling. Other times I don't.
I remember reading a phrase in the book The Good Psychopath's guide to success by Andy McNabb (very good read) that summed it up for me;

Write shit.
Everyone wants to be someone who once wrote a book. Unless you actually write, you'll stay someone who wants to write a book.
Also, find your voice and your genre. It might not be what you want it to be. I'd love to be able to write Stephen King style horror novels, but I know that I could work my arse off and do a mediocre job at best. What I'm good at, is non-fiction, so that's what I write.
One day I'll finish one of the fiction books (notwithstanding the reports I write at work) I'm working on though.

My #1 writing principle is: "My first draft is always crap." Takes all the pressure off.
For me, the best part of writing is editing. I can write any ridiculous nonsense and then come back an fix it later. One page a crap that i can edit into half a page of text is better than having nothing at all.
If there was a way I could edit what I say out loud I'd jump at it.
