Terrific! Thank you for letting me know you're reading this with your class. Please DM me if you'd like to schedule a virtual visit. I'd love to chat books with your students. :)
As for chapter summaries, I do not have such a thing yet but it's a good idea. Not sure it helps directly, but there is also a somewhat extensive glossary at the back that might help a bit with the more technical terms.
Again, thank you for the feedback and for the support!

My answer to the question however is far more more simplistic.
- I believe it is an overlooked and a genre crucial to a child's development.
- My twin boys are of an age where they appreciate the genre and I love writing stories that they love.
- I enjoy writing books that still allow children to reserve a touch of innocence whilst opening their eyes to possibilities.
- My favourite and most influential books were Middle grade books.

I don't really get writer's _block_. I mean, I certainly get delayed and distracted and stuck, but never entirely blocked. If I'm feeling muddy about a certain aspect of the story, I let it simmer. I take a walk. I work on something else. Inevitably, the creative juices are bubbling and the answer will come.

Getting lost in your own imagination, when you're simultaneously subject to its whims and mysteriously in control.

It's interesting! I am a sucker for interesting factoids, especially ones that leave room for imaginative storytelling to fill any mysterious gaps. Egyptian mythology and lore is ripe for such mental wanderings, but THE EYE OF RA is unique in that it doesn’t take the tack of the traditional ancient Egyptian narrative with mummies and glowing crystals and the like. The challenges thrown at John and Sarah in THE EYE OF RA are natural, physical, and emotional ones, with accurate bits of history dashed in for realism. But don’t that make you think the challenges aren’t fantastic... John and Sarah are pushed to their max.
