Katrina Alexander I look for inspiration in my everyday life. I know that sounds cliché, but sometimes a line from a song on the radio connects with me, or I encounter a fun name that I've never heard before and I write it down to use in a story later. I'll take a characteristic of a family member or friend and incorporate it into one of my characters in the story I'm working on.
But the biggest motivation behind the stories I write: the book should make the reader feel good and uplifted when they've finished it...like the reader enjoyed it so much, it was worth the time they took out of their lives to read it.
Katrina Alexander Hi Lily,

I will reach out to you, thanks for contacting me about book reviews! My favorite genre to read is romance, of course! I think that's why I like to write romance novels, you know what they say...write what you know. Historical, contemporary, and even some fantasy romance are my favorite categories, but I like any book with a good story, including thrillers, and some quasi-horror (but not the slasher kind, more psychological).
Katrina Alexander I'm currently working on revisions for book three of the Jacobs Landing series. The story is written, but the fleshing out character impressions in different scenes is a work-in-progress.
Katrina Alexander I don't force myself to write when I have writer's block. I know that contradicts what other authors say, but I continue to think about the character or plot issue that is causing problems. Whether I'm cooking dinner or folding laundry, I process the current issue causing the block and trust it will work itself out. It always does.
Katrina Alexander I hope to finally read Where The Crawdads Sing. I tried to get it from the library last summer, but there was a really long waiting list.

I'd also like to read books 4 and 5 in the Graveyard Queen series by Amanda Stevens.
