I started a book inspired by my adventurous and fiercely independent daughter, who has a love of animals, but the story evolved from there to a world I created entirely from my imagination.
Humans have a history of exterminating things we fear or do not understand.
I wondered what it would be like if dragons were created for a purpose and what that purpose would be.
What would their society be like? What would their family life be like?
In my books, I deal with a lot of social issues that repeat themselves through history. Problems we still struggle with today.
I have four dragon species, each with a district purpose and culture, which you will discover as the series develops.
Book 2, The Fire Within the Storm is available on Amazon and book 3 will be out in the first quarter of 2021.

I turn to You Tube. I write in the Medieval Period, and there is a lot to learn about the time period. So when I feel like I am struggling to write, I begin to research something about that time period and that helps me to imagine one of my characters doing that activity or facing that struggle.

I get to combine my two passions. Dramatic storytelling and teaching about life lessons. In modern society, we are mostly about entertainment. But the true purpose of storytelling is to impart wisdom. I get to create worlds where readers emerge with snippets that can help them in understanding the world and people around them.

Get into a routine. I have found people who took 5 years to write their first book. I had a routine of writing. Same time every day. Even if I only did 100 words, I still stuck to the routine. If I was short on words, I would research the period I was writing about. I completed the novel including professional editing on 9 months. Routine was the only thing that helped me to keep going until it was done.

I do not know if I want to go anywhere I like to read about. It may be too scary. But Maybe Medieval England. I would be keen to meet King Arthur.
