You will gain much insight through their critiques, but always remember to retain your own voice. Every writer has their own writing rhythm and it will separate your work from everyone else.

It can be a very difficult endeavor, taking away time from other activities and sometimes producing lots of frustration, but the rewards and feelings of accomplishment surpass everything else.

I walk away from the laptop, dive into a home project and while doing that ideas about the book start popping into my head. Taking a long walk also helps.
