Freedom. It's the freedom to write what ever I feel. I write for me and what makes me happy. I am not chasing a career as a major writer but I do enjoy the challenge of writing and creating something out of nothing which someone will enjoy. If success comes from this pursuit than I will gladly accept it. LOL

I usually do one of two things. I tend to list to music which excites me thus I can get myself into a flow while writing or if its a more serious block, I will stay away from writing for a while. During this period, I will walk my dogs or other forms of exercise and try to solve my problem. on how to write myself out of the corner I find myself in. Exercise tends to relax me and when I become more relaxed new ideas will pop up.

I have enjoyed writing stories going back to grade school as long as they were fiction. As a member of the Jacksonville Offshore Sports Fishing Club, I became involved in creating our 1st news letter, The Reel News. I spent several years writing short fishing adventure stories for our members in The Reel News. With these short fishing stories, I did venture out and had them published in a few regional fishing magazines. Many of my friends liked these stories. From these short storied, I decide to see if I could create a novel. I am happy I did because I do believe this is a good story.

I have combined two areas of my life to create American Kingfish Tournament. I am a passionate tournament fisherman on the local kingfish trail. I fish with my family and we have lost many but we have also won some. Several of the fishing stories inside the book have actually occurred during our family fishing adventures. I have worked in the insurance industry for 18 years as a field adjuster. People never cease to amaze me at their creativity on what a very few will do when filing claims. It was easy to combine the how insurance fraud can work with the backdrop of tournament fishing.

I afraid not. I am not a horror story writer. I tried a very short story and it was not what I was good at.

I am planning on reading some more Zane Grey stories. To me, he is the father of the modern outdoor writer/ fishing writer. It is his writings that have inspired me to write.

If I could, I would love to go to Isle De Morata in Mexico and retrace some of Zane Grey's fishing adventures. It would be great to have a mother ship and one or two rovers to range out and fish for many different target species.
