Manda Carpenter I did not want to write my most recent book. It's vulnerable, raw, and far too intimate for my liking. I set out to write an entirely different book initially. But that's how it goes! You write what you cannot not write. Soul Care To Save Your Life, my newest book, was not written deliberately; it was the culmination of my life experiences begging to come out of me.
Manda Carpenter Write everywhere, everyday. Be consistent. Write paragraphs in your mind while you're walking your dog to the park. Jot down thoughts and phrases in your iPhone notes section or even in the shower. (I'm serious, invest in a waterproof shower note pad.) Don't overthink it. Simply write consistently, and whatever you're most afraid of people reading.
Manda Carpenter I love hearing from my readers, "You gave language to my feelings and experience." Also, I strongly believe writing is a powerful tool; it has the ability to draw people out of apathy.
Manda Carpenter I believe writer's block is actually life block. When I experience writer's block it is almost always a lack of space in my life that's needed to process. Also, when I feel stuck I stop consuming and the creating usually begins to flow.
