So, I love your dogs, all your dogs, they're so totally dogs. Your cats, though... Queenie, for instance (listening to Bark vs. Snark, right now), reads like a not very friendly stereotype. And all your dogs hate cats. As someone who grew up with both, and has lived all my life until very recently with both, that's disturbing. Can you do some more realistic cats? Please?

Why did you keep referring to the main character as Mrs.Plansky throughout the book instead of calling her Loretta?

Spencer Quinn Good question! The true answer is it just felt right, but a rational reason would have to do with the fact that she's quite traditional and proper in many ways.

Are your books available as audio books? I read all the ones that were written when I switched to audio books, but now I'd like to listen to them all from the beginning and up through all the Chet and Bernie books. Even though I'm more of a cat person, I think these books are GREAT!

Spencer Quinn Thanks, Karen. The answer is yes, and Jim Frangione, the narrator of the audio books, does a great job. A Farewell to Arfs is next.

Spencer Quinn Glad you like HOB! The next C&B is all written and will be out early next summer. Mostly Arizona, a bit of Mexico. Aquifers play a big role! As for the little relative ...

Spencer Quinn I really don't know yet - it's something I think about but I'm busy with Chet and Bernie right now - happily! So the best I can say is maybe. Your feelings about The Right Side mean a lot to me.

Mr Quinn, my kids and I enjoyed all of your Chet and Bernie books. We look forward to the story continuing and hope beyond hope that Bernie will come around. It doesn't look good for him...my daughter (age 11) is particularly worried about him and what might befall Chet if he doesn't survive. Please put our minds at ease. Will you be sending us off on another adventure with Chet soon?

Hi, I am an avid reader and have a dog who enjoys it when I read to her. Her favorites, and mine, are the Chet and Bernie stories. So, if possible, please write more of them. I can only read on my Nook reader because my vision is bad, so I can only get ebooks however I would appreciate any new Chet and Bernie stories in any format. Will you let us know when another is on the way? Thank you

Will there be another Chet and Bernie book? I just finished #8 and I'm depressed that there's not a new one right now. I just started the C & B series 6 wks ago and I'm "hooked". I haven't read a series like this that is this good in a very long time?

I just finished my first Chet & Bernie book, To Fetch a Thief. I enjoyed it very much but kept wondering what kind of dog Chet is? Purebred or mixed? Loved the way his mind wandered, kind of like mine😊

Spencer Quinn Well, you clearly have a very good mind! As for Chet - all he knows is what he overhears: he's a hundred-plus pounder and his ears don't match. Somewhere in the series there's a brief conversation in which Bernie says Chet's a mix of some sort. I'd search for it but right now I'm busy with the finishing touches of the next C&B - HEART OF BARKNESS.
