J.A. Martin At one point, I had a boss with whom I had a very close working relationship, but we never pursued anything and we never talked about the rising sexual tension between us. I wondered for a long time, if we ever had a reasonable expectation of privacy, would anything have happened between us. The only two things that ever happened is that he stood behind my chair and pulled my hair, lightly and the next day, I grazed my finger gently across the back of his neck.
J.A. Martin One would have to be Sailing to Sarantium by Guy Gavriel Kay. I've probably read it ten times and never tire of it! Second would be 61 Hours by Lee Child. The third would be Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas, another of my all time favorites!
J.A. Martin I start every project with a "what if" question. For "A Naughty Wife", my question was: What if a man caught his wife playing with herself in the backyard? What would he do? and on the other side of that, why would she do that? What is her motivation? What does she want?
J.A. Martin My most recent book is "She's the Boss" which is the sequel to "Taking Dicktation". I felt like my lusty heroine, Renee O'Connor needed a new sexual challenge, and I liked the idea of her starting off the book not really liking the man she wants to dominate.
J.A. Martin I start a new project when what I am working on is stuck. Usually while working on the second thing, I will get an idea for the first one, and then go back to that one.
J.A. Martin It feels amazing to use words to affect the thoughts, feelings, and imaginations of others. I have been writing since I was ten years old. I had a teacher who started giving us "Train of thought" projects, where she would write a sentence on the board and have us copy the sentence and then start the story. After about five minutes, we would switch papers with someone else, and then five minutes later, another person. Over the weekend, we would have to take what was written by the other three people and finish the story. It was great fun and so exciting to know I could write. I started making up my own stories after that and reading them to my parents and sisters.
J.A. Martin I started writing erotica about ten months ago, and there was a steep learning curve. Understand and accept that you will make mistakes along the way and don't let it get you down, just learn and move on. Enjoy the process of learning, writing and how exciting it is to be a published author.
J.A. Martin My current project is called Be My Toy, about a woman who dominates her boyfriend with her best friend over the course of one night.
J.A. Martin Right now, I have a few. Valerie Douglas "The Coming Storm" and CS Ratliff "The Thunder King", and Zoe Nightshade "Wolfsbane" to name a few.
J.A. Martin If I could go to any fictional book world, I would go to Guy Gavriel Kay's Sarantium. The colorful and vivid way he described ancient Byzantium in his Sarantine Mosaic hooked me right away, and made me feel like I was there.
