Atticus Ryder I woke up sweating from a nightmare. 'Its ok, I'll watch over you.' Someone said - I live alone.

Does that count?? :)
Atticus Ryder I smashed a bit of Terry Patchett, Lillan Jackson Braun and Mark Lawrence. A real mixture of styles from Whodunneit to serious fantasy.
Atticus Ryder I would totally go to the Six Duchies (Robin Hobb, Assassin's Apprentice) and go on an adventure with the witted (People that can speak to Animals)!
Atticus Ryder 1./ Be patient with yourself.
2./ Get organised and stay organised. Like anything, the more you create a good structure, the more the creative space takes care of itself. It does take a lot of effort.
3./ Start big and work your way down to the words. Who are the characters, setting, motivations, themes, plot lines etc. Visual it if that helps.
Atticus Ryder It's another space to exist outside of everything else in life. You can create whatever you want! You get to know parts of yourself, explore and imagine things that no-one else has yet! I do it every morning before work and it level sets my day.
Atticus Ryder It started back in secondary school, though it wasn't writing as such, it was storytelling. It's where I first met Derik the Dragon from Twilight Tales. Together we won a prize. I've always loved stories and for years, on and off, I would have ideas and jot them down. When I got married, my wife and I made a pact to do something that wasn't work but was something we'd always wanted to do - mine was writing. On the 26th September 2011 I took those notes and began in earnest.
Atticus Ryder I loved short stories as a child, particularly A Necklace of Memories by Joan Aiken, Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling and Story Teller by Jim Henson. Also a bit fantasy/sci-fiction fan. I wanted to bring those two things together for children! Some particular inspirations are listed on my website; twilightcat.co.uk/atticus-ryder
Atticus Ryder I am currently authoring/illustrating Twilight Tales Returns - a second collection of stories. Just about to finish the 4th story out of 8, which is inspired by Jungle Book, Horizon Zero Dawn and Rupert the Bear. I'm also working with my publisher on releasing a small novel for Children called The Minor Gentleman and His Upside Down Heart.
Atticus Ryder First I try not to panic or get frustrated, which I fail at 95% of the time. Then I try these three things (in no particular order).

1./ Focus my attention on another scene, something I like or I know is easy to write / illustrate.
2./ Try a different format/medium e.g. draw the problem on paper rather than tapping a keyboard.
3./ Do something admin related to help me feel like I've been productive e.g. fill in my writing diary

Sometimes setting the problem aside and thinking of something else can give your brain time to puzzle it out. You'd be surprised when solutions pop up.
Above all else, never give up. Even if you write a sentence and you hate it. It's something that didn't exist before you wrote it. There is always something to say for that.
