Mona Kristensen I've just started writing the sequel to my debut novel, this time a coming-of-age story. There are several interesting topics I'm eager to explore. As an intuitive INFP writer, I don't outline my story or do much plotting in advance but rather receive ideas and inklings from my subconscious and/or get inspired by seemingly random situations or words and sentences heard along the way. It's intriguing to watch the narrative slowly come together and I'm looking forward to diving into it: I much prefer the actual writing part of being an author!
Mona Kristensen For non-fiction, I've been wanting to read M.D. Gabor Maté's book "When the Body Says No" for a while but haven't gotten around to it. He shares profound insights about the bio/social connection which I intuitively resonate with. For fiction, I'll probably re-read Linda Olsson's "The Kindness of Your Nature", I read it a few years ago and was moved by the story and her writing. So many great new books waiting, too!
Mona Kristensen The best thing about being a writer is bringing something from the intangible realms into being, to observe how a story slowly (sometimes excruciatingly slow) takes shape through me and finally gets birthed: fully fleshed and in a form often quite different - and better - than my initial idea and outline. To experience how this process unfolds if allowed to is rather spectacular!
Mona Kristensen As someone who learned this the hard way when getting ill with CFS, I felt called to express myself and in doing so hopefully help raise awareness in highly sensitive kids on how to protect their precious energy by staying in touch and in tune with the whole rainbow of emotions, expressing instead of suppressing themselves and by setting healthy boundaries. This tender tale is mostly fictitious yet slightly inspired by my own life journey. I've never, to my recollection, had an imaginary friend, though, but I've certainly felt all of the feelings Maria is grappling with.
