Samantha Kroese I'm currently working on a two book Dark Fantasy project about an Elven Society and the dark underside it's hiding.
Samantha Kroese Music has a lot to do with my creative process. Other than that I just really enjoy writing so the idea of sharing my character's stories and writing down what I see in my head really gets me inspired.
Samantha Kroese I like to pick theme songs for projects/characters and I will play them on repeat until I can break through the block. If that doesn't work I take a break and come back to it later or write something else for a little while that isn't blocked. Sometimes even skipping ahead to write a special scene I'm looking forward to.
Samantha Kroese For me the best thing about being a writer is being able to explore places I would never go in real life. I find it a fun challenge to write characters that are rarely like me and explore where they can go. It's fun to share them with others too!
Samantha Kroese I wrote the original version of Taboo in 2008 as a National Novel Writing Month novel. From there it evolved over the years into the Fading Lights trilogy. I don't remember exactly where the original idea spark came from but I know I listened to Evanescence's Open Door album a lot that month I wrote that novel!
Samantha Kroese Go for it. If you have a story in your head trying to escape that means someone in the world has a hole in their life that your story will fill. Get your story out there, find your audience. It's hard but it's worth it.
