M. Scott Swanson Great question. As a writer I draw from many "near misses" in life. Those situations where everything turned out well ... but what if? These make for juicy plot lines.

To answer your question, I would LOVE to go back in time and learn the circumstances of my birth. Why my mother chose to have me on her own, why she didn't give me up for adoption as planned and how a California girl ended up in Chicago desperate to escape from a bad relationship.

I know some details of the eighteen month period in her life. They would make a stunning psychological thriller.

Still, too many critical details she kept to herself. Details she will never be able to share with me as we lost her to breast cancer four years ago.

Thank you for the question!
M. Scott Swanson My dirty little pleasure for the longest was Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum character. I was also fortunate enough to have a relative who had a lake home in Guntersville, AL.. One day April May Snow popped into my mind and she's been begging me to finish her story ever since.
M. Scott Swanson Get 10 minutes that someone else hasn't committed in my life, find a place to hide and I'll slip away for hours at a time.
M. Scott Swanson Neck deep in the April May Snow Prequel series of 'Throw the ___' shorts. (7 planned) and editing the April May Snow full length novel series 'Foolish ____' (7 full length novels written, no set end yet) which were started in 2018.
M. Scott Swanson Stop outlining it, stop talking about, and start writing it today. Also toughen up Buttercup. The first draft is like having a baby, a huge excitement, but you still have to raise it through the editing process. Disciplining your beautiful child can be painful.
M. Scott Swanson When people say they enjoyed my story and you I see sincerity in their eyes. I like to share and I know how good it makes me feel when I read someone else's book that captures my imagination.
M. Scott Swanson I haven't ever had writer's block. I have too many stories I want to write so if one of the characters stops speaking to me I pickup a different story to work. I also use Dragon for most my rough drafts and I am known to pickup my notebook for a quick note about something that came to mind and find I have written in longhand ten pages. I do suffer from "Real World" responsibilities which makes my progress slower than I want it to be with my series.
