Cully Mack Hi Alice

Thank you for your question :)

I do quote from 1 Enoch in the Epigraph of each book. Here is the first with a brief explanation.

For to the thunder resting places were given,
as it awaits its voice,
and the thunder and the lightening are not separated.
And (although) they are not one,
by the wind the two of them go and are not separated.
(1 Enoch 60:11 L14)

I kind of envisaged Gabe as being the thunder resting in Barakel with Meciel (lightning) being his support to find his voice, and Ammo (Wind) joining them and transporting them to where they need to go.

1 Enoch is a fascinating text. Have you read it?

The mythology in my Voice that Thunders series has been inspired by texts from Ancient Near East.
I researched 1 Enoch, Biblical and Babylonian texts (and others) that touch on the topic of the 'others/gods' coming to our world in the ancient past and interacting with humanity.
I find it intriguing how all the different races living in and around ancient Mesopotamia (inc what is now considered biblical land) have a similar story to tell. It makes you wonder what on earth was going on back then (at least it fascinates me trying to work out their mindset).

As for any biblical background, I wasn't raised in a Church, though I am a believer. I guess you could say my quest is for the truth.
Cully Mack I don't have the whole idea fleshed out! All I know is my characters starting point. They are in a world set in our ancient past. Immortal beings arrive through portals and set themselves up as gods. My characters have to defeat them to survive. How they are going to do this is anyone's guess!
I'm currently writing book 4. I have a bunch of characters (too many) and my first question was who am I going to kill? I won't know the answer until I get to writing that page.
The opening chapter begins with Gabe. He's desperate to do something but circumstances prevent him from being able to carry it out. All i know at this point is where I need him to be at the end. How he get's there depends on what obstacles come his way.
Cully Mack I love mythology and spent time in ancient texts. I love creating new worlds. I'm a discovery writer and enjoy the process of not knowing where things will end. With my characters, I tend to start with a character trait, give them challenges and see how they respond. They hardly ever do what I expect them to! I go where they direct me because I learned quite early that trying to write them into doing what I want does not work.
Cully Mack I write through it. I also take time out to research and get inspiration.
Cully Mack Transporting my mind into another world and hoping readers come with me.
Cully Mack Writing is a journey of discovery. Get your ideas down. Don't stop even when you believe it's terrible. Keep going and don't self critique that's what 2nd drafts are for! Also I can't say enough but READ, READ, READ and not just your genre!
Cully Mack I'm currently editing book 4 in the Voice that Thunders series.
