What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

David Slattery This is a really interesting question that I think I may have anticipated in my latest book - The Impostor. Identity and the fluid nature of it is a good basis for a mystery.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

David Slattery I wouldn't go anywhere in Science or Fantasy fiction so it would probably be historical. But then, why subject myself to the poor hygiene. No I will stay here in reality thanks.

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

David Slattery I am currently reading Christian Appy's Vietnam, which is an oral history of the Vietnam war. Excellent.

David Slattery It was so blackI couldn't even see the red veins of my eyelids as I blinked awake. Immediately my fingers bumped against the wooden board inches from my face.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

David Slattery Ideas come to everyone. The trick is to recognise that it is an idea that can become a book. This was an idea that was floating around in my head for ages waiting for me to notice it. Book ideas have to be patient.
