When in my 20's, I lived an incredible adventure with the man I loved. When he died, I didn't want our story to die with him. I had documentation of the events in the form of newspaper clips, notes and photos, and I just had to sit down and write.

Don't do it alone. Join a writers' group. Read books on the techniques of writing by successful authors and editors. I learned a lot from what other writers had to say. Finally, read books in you area of interest, find a model you like and follow it at first. In time, you will develop your own style.
