I'm mulling on an idea, playing with it in my mind, writing little bits around the edges, and letting it take shape. I'm in the thinking stage of writing. This one will be a novel, I think.

I was helping my father with his memoir. He's older so he was taking breaks, and needed to rest, and I started writing the very beginnings of what would become my own book. My book is also a memoir. It's a story about love, and coffee and the American Dream. It's our family's story, so I guess I got the idea for the book, from our own experience.

If I'm in front of a blank screen or page and the words are just not coming, then I leave it and do something else --go for a walk, or cook. I haven't experienced extended periods of writer's block, but there are definitely days when the words flow easier than others.
