Ken Ross She opened her eyes in thick darkness, felt confined and her movements were restricted. She heard a noise and knew the temperature was rising as the furnace engulfed with flames.
Ken Ross It's an absolute fallacy. Writer's block is garbage. Do shop assistants turn up at work and say, 'Hey, I can't serve folks today, I've put a block on customers.'? Get thinking, an idea always comes - it's what you do with it that matters.
Ken Ross Omnipotence. You are in charge. You will live and die by the pen. If you fail, then hey, you tried. If you succeed, then keep on succeeding so people in the future will have something to read.
Ken Ross Turn it out, put it away, then burn the lot. There will come a time when you're not ashamed of your work. It this endures for a year or so - you've got there. You're no longer aspiring.
Ken Ross Just finished WASTED PAIN. Only published today, 16.02.19. Twenty three days of constant slog, but it was nice living with two characters who didn't have names.
Ken Ross No such thing as inspiration - that's for Shelley & Keats. Writing is work. You think, then you write. Discipline is what's needed, not inspiration.
Ken Ross I think any book begins with a seed of an idea. Just as a tree grows, so too does the idea; it changes by the hour, some branches you snap off, then there comes a point when you are ready to launch the idea into words. Personally, I set off only having a vague idea of where I'm going - keeps me interested. I write quickly and hope to finally end up in a decent place. It's good fun, wonderful living with characters for a few weeks.
