I mostly read contemporary women's fiction, romance, chick lit... I like my stories fiction but story locations real. I could never force myself to read travel guides, but reading fiction is a fun way of learning about other cultures and peeking into lifestyles a bit different to yours. Right now, travelling just about anywhere feels like a crazy pipe dream. Thank goodness for books!

I've never understood the term 'aspiring writer'. If you write, that makes you a writer, right? It's not like you need elaborate equipment, like if you were an 'aspiring sailor'. But, terminological wankerism aside, if you want to write, write, see how you enjoy it. It's one of those things you can really learn by doing, getting lots of feedback and doing again.

For me, a writer's block is more of a motivational slump. At times, being an indie author is such a hard slog... I'm not great at the marketing side of things, or rather, I don't have a lot of time for that, and at times, I feel absolutely invisible. An invisible person with an expensive, time-consuming hobby :D But then I remind myself of why I love writing, and I have to continue, even if nobody will ever find my books or I never make my money back (which is how it works for most). So, I go back to writing, disappear into that imaginary world and be happy.

A sequel to Nest or Invest, of course! This is Marnie's story and features a hot politician with a heart of gold – because I think there should be at least one in this world, even if fictional :)
