I'm also working on a stand-alone suspense novel with a female protagonist--also set in Vancouver. Really excited about both projects.
I have completed a romantic suspense, coming out in the next month on Amazon (still deciding on the title) under my pen name, RS Brett. That one is set in Hawaii and is a funny romantic suspense. Very different from the others.

I need to be relaxed and in a quiet place internally. Not worrying about other things. The book writes itself then.

I have to think back. I find I notice so many things in my normal life, and from there, they form into some absurd murder plot in my mind.
I knew I wanted the victims to have their lips sutured together, with the mystery being more psychological than gruesome. And it went from there.
The settings I choose are invariably ones I've lived in. And Vancouver is one of my favorite places in the world.
