Similar to Jimmy in HOW NOT TO BE A ROGUE, Roland is a byproduct of a D&D character I played at one point in time. The story itself just kind of happened.

I've always wanted to write books, just never had the drive to do it. A couple of years ago, I was inspired to write because of a D&D group I played with and it was the birth of Jimmy.

As cliche as it sounds, just write. Keep writing. The more you do it, the better you will get. That, and don't get discouraged about the process, there are plenty of options out there to fit the need for everyone.

Best way I deal with it, is to just sit down and write. If I'm struggling really bad, then I'll step away for a little while and wait until it comes to me naturally.
