Lindsay McCafferty My favorites would be places and creatures. Places because, if I have a clear picture in my head, it's fun to bring it to life in the manuscript. Creatures because they're something different from just figuring out what people look like, and there can be a lot more variation in the descriptions. With people, you have to stick to something real. With creatures, specifically fantasy ones, you can use your imagination more.
