My books (so far) are based on my life experiences. For the most part, I've written them in the order that they happened. My most recent book is about my most recent adventure... well, not the MOST recent; the adventure I most recently completed.
I got the idea for my next book from my readers. They asked me to write something fictional, & it seems like a nice change-of-pace. It's a challenge, but I'm ready for it.

Inspiration comes... it's not something I can fabricate. It happens when I read, or when I walk; usually when my mind is free to wander. Thoughts bubble up from somewhere way down deep; every now & then, one expands, takes up more room than the others, demands my attention. It seeks to inspire me, so I listen.

After writing a 5-book series about my own life adventures, I am going to write a fictional story about a man walking a line between realities.

When you have an idea for a story, write it. Sit down & put the words on paper, so to speak. Write as freely & quickly as possible; do not rewrite or edit or correct until you have the whole story down on paper. Write for a one-person audience... even if that's yourself. Immerse yourself in the project & enjoy watching the story reveal itself.

It's not something I have to deal with; writing is a free-flowing experience for me. When I have a writing project in front of me, I write without much concern for it's quality at first. I don't worry too much about "getting it right' the first time; instead, I watch the words on the screen & follow the story.
