I was having a nightmare about cannibals when I suddenly woke up, covered in sweat, my legs and arms tangled in my sheets. I tried to sit up, only to find myself above a glowing pit of fire, my ankles and wrists bound with rope, and pointy-teethed humans grinning devilishly at me.

If I could travel to any fictional book world, I would go to the sleepy town of Maycomb in the 1930s, the home of Jem and Scout Finch. I would vacation there for a couple of months, breathe the fresh country air, and take notes on some life lessons from Atticus. I would NOT try to see Boo Radley.

I have one piece: Write about what you love, about your experiences (real or fictitious), about what you have deep knowledge about, about what you can explore and analyze. That way, no one can pick at your writing, because your writing will be coming from inside of you, your writing will be your heart, mind, and soul on display, your writing will be authentic.
Researching and writing about something you don't know too well always leaves gaps for the trolls to sneak in. That's why that is my advice.

The best thing about being a writer is that you can catch most of those thoughts, ideas, and memories swarming around in your head and put them down on paper (or in a Word Document) where they can't escape you and disappear into oblivion.
Honest Injun, that is what I love most about being a writer.

I stop writing. I put all my work away and just forget about writing completely. I'm not on any schedule, I have no deadlines to meet, and I don't have to live up to anyone's expectations. My writing is a very private hobby, so when I can't write, I don't.
Usually, when I do come back to my work a week or two later, the block is cleared up. I see everything with a fresh eye, my brain can think up of more details, and the ideas just start flowing from my fingertips.

I have a lot of half-finished pieces lying around, and I can't decide which one to work on right now. You could say that I'm experiencing writer's block currently. 😂

This not an easy question to answer. Inspiration is everywhere, in a painting, in the way a child curls its fingers around your hand, in the wind howling above the treetops, in the way the sun filters through a glade of birches... however, I may not always be able to grasp it and create something out of it.
Oftentimes, a single word spoken by someone will give me an idea and I will scribble away for a good part of the day, pleased with my creativity. Other times, I will see the inspiring aspect right in front of me, but I will be unable to weave my magic through words and will become terribly disappointed.

I've been writing short stories recently, so I guess I could talk about my most recent story instead of a book.
A long time ago, meaning like at the beginning of this year, I had signed up as a Listener at 7cups.com. I was assigned a random username, Starry, and I liked it so much that I kept it.
The username inspired me to write a short poem about how I could be a star shining bright, giving hope, and helping people cope. That poem, in turn, inspired me to write a short story about a man lost in the desert. I have not yet presented it to the public eye, but I hope to, soon.
