Shelby Wilde Story ideas are everywhere. For me it's usually a turn of phrase that I catch or something my kids say. Spending time with little ones is like gold for a children's book author.
Shelby Wilde My best piece of advice for writers is to put a manuscript away for at least two weeks after you finish the rough draft (or after the first revision is complete). You need distance for a fresh perspective. My advice is similar with writer's block: Make sure you have multiple projects going on at the same time so when you his a block with one, you can put it away for a while and work on another. When you come back to it weeks later, it's like magic. No more writer's block!
Shelby Wilde You can create whole new worlds! Especially with children's books, there are very few rules. Let your imagination be your guide!
Shelby Wilde Write a little bit each day. Writing is like anything else: The more you do it, the easier it becomes. Once you get in the flow, you can do even more with the skill.
