Levi Samuel I thought long and hard about this question and I'm afraid I don't have an answer. There are many places I'd like to see. At one time I would have jumped on the idea of living in a world filled with dragons and magic and daily sword fights, but now I'm not sure I have the endurance to survive.
I guess I've gotten old. I'd simply like to travel to a world much smaller than our own. No people trying to get money out of me. Nobody telling me what to do. I just want to build the things in my head and enjoy life.
Levi Samuel It was the end. Or was it?
Levi Samuel I've always been a creator of one kind or another. The need to make things has been a driving motivation for me since I was a kid. I think that's what I enjoy most about being a writer. I get to create things that no other person can possibly create. Sure, other people can write books. They can even write in the same genre or follow the exact outline I use. The two stories will still be drastically different at the end. I get to make one of a kind things.
Levi Samuel I've made one of the many errors a writer can make and I've been working on multiple books at the same time for a while now. This leaves me slightly unsure what my most recent book is. If it's the most recent to have it's first draft brought to completion, I'd have to say that's The Wizard's Grandson which should be available within the next month or so,
The concept for that story took a couple weeks of kicking around ideas with my friend George. I wrote it from start to finish for NaNoWriMo this past year. I wanted to do a middle-grade. All my other stuff is targeted for an adult audience. I wanted this one to follow the story of a couple kids who learn that magic is real. I also wanted to explore the idea of a retirement home for old witches and wizards. It just kind of came together into a survive the night kind of story with the battle between good and evil waging around the kids.
Levi Samuel I feel the desire to write quite frequently. Part of that comes from the fact that I'm often so busy I feel like I never have time to write. But truth be told, inspiration isn't reliable. If you try to write only when you're inspired, you're not going to get much accomplished.
The best thing you can do is set a hard schedule and when it's time to write, sit down and write.
Levi Samuel Most projects than I know what to do with...

I'm currently editing a middle-grade urban fantasy called The Wizard's Grandson.
I'm in revisions with 2 other books under my pen name.
And I have 3 covers I'm waiting for information on before I can finish them.
Levi Samuel I have a ton of advice which I discuss in great detail on my YouTube channel. If I had to pick any single thing I would say, keep writing. Even if your book sucks. Even if you don't sell any copies. Even if you can't land an agent or publisher. You have to keep writing. We learn by doing and you're guaranteed to learn along the way. But if you quit you'll never make it.
Levi Samuel Writer's block doesn't exist. It's an excuse to procrastinate. I'm just as guilty of procrastination as anyone but when it's time to write I force myself to write. The water can't flow until you open the valve.
Levi Samuel I'm currently re-reading the Percy Jackson series with my daughter. We just started book 4 of 5.

I've also been reading David J. Pederson's Angst series, also on book 4 of 5.

After that, I believe I'm going to give Wizard's First Rule another shot.
