Bluebell is based off a photograph by EJ Bellocq taken around 1912 in Storyville. I came across the photo and was just haunted by it and I knew I had to tell the girl's story!

I've said many times that the characters tell me what happens. I knew going into it that P would not come home, which made me cry as it was. But then with Emme - Oh, my heart. I adored her, and when she told me she was leaving I really tried to save her.
The worst part is that I wrote that scene at least 13 years ago. And now I am watching my own best friend struggle with terminal cancer and it's gut-wrenching. (hide spoiler)]

I have a few pieces I am working on. One is a contemporary piece about the redemption of a woman not unlike the Biblical "Woman at the Well." Another is a Christian romance about a love triangle. And a third follows three generations of women across the 1800s in South Carolina.

War-Torn Heart is set in Clemson, SC and I'm a local. I love the history of the University and the surrounding area, so it was just natural for me.
