Not Authorized Tea. Ranting at my sister(also editor). More tea. A huge intake of chocolate. An overthinking frenzy. And some more tea. Works every time!
Not Authorized The writing part. Everything else is a hassle that continues to boggle me.
Not Authorized Write. write. write. write. write. It will get better only if you keep at it. And when you're sick of staring at the blank page because nothing good will come out: don't waster your time.
Read. read. read. read. read. read until you're inspired.
And then begin again.
Not Authorized When Dealing With Monsters and the companion story What Happens to Monsters that is meant to answer questions that were put on hold in the original story.
Not Authorized Whenever I picture myself writing, I always imagine pouring my thoughts (good ones, bad ones, ugly ones and magnificent ones) into a small ink pot. And then I draw on that good/bad/ugly/magnificent ink with an imaginary quill and I start to write. The exercise is both calming and aggravating.
Not Authorized I can't remember exactly, but I do recall an exchange between Kyrian Ambercroft and his fiance whom he is bringing home to meet his family for the first time. And I remember that in the moments where Kyrian is describing his mother Ava and his older sister Beatrice as being stately and dignified an image flashes across Kyrian's mind: Beatrice is shouting down directions from the roof of a carriage to their mother and Ava aims and shoots down a demon with her bow and arrow...
That was it. I thought it would be hilarious for Kyrian to introduce his future bride to his family FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, with the added tension of the family secret. That they are all monster hunters.
