Damon Rain I get away from the work, spend a little time with family, go for a walk, or hang out with a dog. Dogs don't care about much past the current moment, it's a great way to be sometimes, and if you can do that with them for a while, you'll be surprised at how clear your head can get. If none of that works, I work on something else for a week or so then return to the problematic project.

The thing I avoid most in times of writer's block are screens. Technology can be the enemy.

Having said all that, I haven't had writer's block in over six years.
Damon Rain Exploring exciting ideas, and telling a story. A lot of other parts are a close second.
Damon Rain Write at least a little every day. Start with the simplest, shortest stories you can because my second piece of advice is to finish everything you can. Even if you're not happy with the ending, you can always put it away for a while, then come back and edit.

Get into the cycle of starting, finishing, resting the work then editing it and you'll master the most important part of writing: the discipline to keep writing and to complete projects.
Damon Rain I'm working on a novel called Magic Means. The story is centred around the opening of an Occult shop that only serves grey and light magicians in a city that is dominated by dark magic.
Damon Rain I've enjoyed writing stories since I was very young, and started writing novels in my teens, so where the inspiration came from, I can't say exactly. There have been few times in my life when I didn't want to tell stories or write.
Damon Rain I was writing a much bigger novel about the opening of an Occult Shop when I thought there might be a fun idea for a story about a librarian who had a crush on a young succubus (young being 19 or so), and it led to a 10,000 word novelette or novella.
