Alex Wai-Choon Butt I was meditating in a place, and experience something unique inside me, that reminded me of the book "Lost Horizon". It was a literature book from middle school. I got hold of that book once i got back to the city and read it again in 3 days. It amazed me how I remembered the story so differently as a student and now. I got lots of ideas from reading other authors's work. Another idea came while standing in Seattle's Salmon Run (the Locks), watching salmon swimming upstream... isn't that what life is about? We swim towards the sea... only to return back to the source? Inspiring!
Alex Wai-Choon Butt I am an introvert, and an analytical person. Writing allows me to structure my ideas into a format perfectly in my way to tell the world how i see it. I enjoy doing it in solicitude. Sometimes I am inspired by listening to people talking at cafe, by the beach or sitting at the part. People's stories inspires me to tell them through fictitious characters for the rest of the world to learn from. I guess i am an introvert with a quiet desire to reach out extrovertially. Oxymoron, but that's what its for me.
Alex Wai-Choon Butt I have a 2 stories I am sketching the outlines... not sure which one I will get down to doing first. One is a story of the Salmon and another is a special place on the mountain where one could meditate and get lost in paradise.
Alex Wai-Choon Butt You can prepare all you want, talk, plan and research all you want, publishing a book takes "getting down to doing it!". Keep writing daily. Build a cadence of writting for at least 6 months... then you might be ready to write serious stuff. Just go do it. No "buts".
Alex Wai-Choon Butt The best thing is to receive feedbacks from readers. Good and not so good feedbacks are great. It helps me tune my next book. Also gaves me a chance to express the inner thoughts behind those moments when I wrote that portion of the book.
Alex Wai-Choon Butt Meditate for a few days... usually, when the mind is clear, ideas flows better for me. I have my favourite spots for meditation, some are in the house.. if i have i a major block, i may have to go away on a 3-day retreat in the forest.
