To know that this is very hard work. To be prepared for a tough hill to climb. To be misunderstood and face opposition. To press on during the difficult process of editing and all the other aspects of publishing and writing. To realize that writing is only part of the process, one must then promote daily for a very long time.
A writer must have a very think skin, there are many discouraging times we must go through, especially us non tech people. We must learn so much and grow. Learning all that is involved. I recommend looking at author sites for writers. There is a lot of good info about all topics on writing available for free. It is a huge industry.

The best thing about being a writer is to be able to share life changing information that has not been available previously. To clarify a difficult topic for greater understanding. To write what no one talks about because it is complex.

Because I am a non-fiction writer, I may work on another part like The Prologue, or Preface, Author Bio, Recommended reading, Chapter Summaries etc.
I also find that a break from the work can help a lot. I can focus much better and rewriting is clearer.

I have many events for the summer and fall to share the history with others.
I am happy to finally be able to share the research. I will be at author fairs, reenactment events, Historical events, I will be sharing at the local Museums for adults and children.
I write a monthly column usually two full pages in a County wide magazine, about Native History.
I am happy to share the truth about the culture and history with others.
It seems everything is exactly the opposite of what stereotypes and racism have taught us.

I was inspired when no one else had stepped up to tell the untold history. I believe we and our children should be able to know the truth. I believe a person should be able to easily find this information on the internet and at the Library.

When I went to the library and could not find local history. I saw a great gaping hole that no one talked about. After 3 months of digging I realized this history had not been written. I determined to find and share the truth about Native History and Culture and share it.
