Michaela Angemeer I think what turned the approximately 150 poems I had written into something I wanted to publish was the passing of my nana last October. I wrote at her bedside when she was in the hospital, and though her passing was heartbreaking, she lived such a life full of love that it inspired the narrative I ended up going with in When He Leaves You.
Michaela Angemeer Connect with other writers. Writing can be super isolating (as we all know), and having people in my corner who totally understanding the writing process and everything I'm feeling is so helpful.
Michaela Angemeer My favourite thing about being a writer is using words to connect to people. There is nothing more heartwarming than hearing that someone relates to what you've wrote and it's inspired them in some way.
Michaela Angemeer Two things - I read, read, read. Getting into some of my favourite books or discovering new ones is the best way to get inspired. Second thing, I go somewhere new. Not necessarily far away, sometimes I can find new words by going to a park or coffee shop I haven't been to in a while. Going anywhere near a body of water also helps too!
