I try to be present. If you do the same, you will not be able to avoid inspiration.
There is infinite material and infinite inspiration if you are in each moment.
Now I practice the pause. I let things sink in more. Nobody needs an instant response or instant input.
Write or record your reactions to a situation and let that captured moment be your inspiration.

Don't aspire.
Start writing now.
Whether you publish or not, write. It is good for the mind, body and spirit.

I am putting the finishing touches on my next book, "Stop and Take the Shot". The book is a photo essay styled effort using pics I've taken around the country that inspired deeper thinking.
I am helping my reader explore my theory of "sight vs vision". We can see things and reflexively make judgements or we can choose to look deeper and embrace the true vision of the scene.
This is my first book outside of the genre of recovery so I am taking a little extra time to get it just right.

My favorite thing about being a writer is the interaction with the readers. I write about big "life" things but try to do so in a way that lets my readers know we are walking the path together.
Taking a leap of faith and going on a journey with an author is a big commitment and I truly appreciate that. I also work hard to honor my commitment and give my readers a sense of hope and fulfillment.
The messages I get from my readers make all the effort worthwhile.

One of the only ways I have found to get through writer's block is to put everything project-related down and go for a ride. Go somewhere new or someplace completely disconnected with what I am writing about. Pick a radio station or playlist that I don't have memorized and get away from the pen and paper.
Sometimes just that change of scenery or a new song will open up the logjam that is my brain.

My next book due for release in April of this year was a subtle hint by a very important person in my life. She would comment on social media posts I would make based on pictures I took. The past few years have really taught me to look deeper than what we see at first glance.
The next book is a collection of photography from around the country combined with my philosophy of sight vs vision. I fully believe we need to invest the time to look deeper and above all, stop and take the shot.
