I got the idea for After the Eclipse while I was watching the solar eclipse in 2015. I found myself thinking how awful it would be to have your memory of a beautiful natural event be so tainted by something terrible that had happened - and how painful it would be to have to relive that experience years later. That's how Cassie and Olive were born!

Lots of ways! My favourites include: playlists, Pinterest boards & aesthetics, long showers and longer walks with my dogs. Anything that gets the creative blood flowing.

I guess it depends what kind of writer's block we're talking about! Sometimes I find it's a motivation issue, especially if I'm drained or overtired. In that case I'll allow myself some time off to relax and reboot. If I know I'm not burned out, I'll consider if it's something to do with the project. Maybe I've taken a wrong turn without realising, or maybe I'm just feeling a bit bored, in which case I'll rethink and/or spice it up. Sometimes though I don't want to write because I'm being lazy! The solution in that case is just to get on with it and write anyway. I usually feel better afterwards. :)

There are so many awesome things! I think my favourite is just that I get to write every day and it's my JOB. I'm not only allowed to make things up, I'm actively encouraged to do it! But secondary to that is the amazing book community - readers, other writers, booksellers, you all rock.

My biggest piece of writing advice is this: Never stop writing, and take yourself (and your writing) seriously! The writing industry is tough, but patience and perserverence are the key to breaking in. And beyond that, allowing yourself the time to write, giving yourself permission to treat writing as a job as much as a hobby, is the first step towards success.

I'm currently working on my second crime novel. It's another stand-alone title, about a serial killer who abducts pairs of siblings from their beds and the two women who team up to take him down. It's due for release in 2020.
