F.M. Isaacs Never, ever give up.
F.M. Isaacs Many different things inspire me to write. Being in nature, reading a good book, watching an excellent show/movie, seeing an amazing work of art... One of my biggest inspirations is music. Usually classical music touches off all kinds of stories in my head. A big inspiration for the Fox family stories, interesting enough, were the symphonies of English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. When I discovered them, I was blown away by how evocative they were.
F.M. Isaacs Two books at once. (What can I say? I'm a multi-tasker) Both the sequel to Family of the Fox as well as a YA version of Taunting Fate.
F.M. Isaacs There's a whole history involved in Family of the Fox. To keep this answer short, basically I wrote a contemporary fantasy trilogy for adults (Taunting Fate), and my kids hated that they couldn't read it, so I ended up writing Family of the Fox for them. It's in the same universe and has the same characters, but it's the next generation of the Fox family. This went over so well that I'm re-writing the Taunting Fate trilogy so children can read it too.
