Maria Johnson If I get writer's block, I find a change of scene quite helpful. Going for a walk is great, as you can often be inspired by what you see around you, even the particular shape of a tree could prompt an idea to continue a scene or where you might go with a character. A good tip is to try to always carry a notebook and pen with you so you can scribble ideas down on the go (looking where you're going, though, obviously!)

Another tip is to try not to get down about it. Some days are slower writing days than others and sometimes you might not write at all- that's ok, it might be a break refreshes things for you a bit. :)
Maria Johnson The best thing about being a writer is writing! Being published has only inspired me to write more. I've loved getting to know the writing community, too- on Twitter so far but really looking forward to engaging with writers and readers on Good Reads, too.

Writing more has also inspired me to get back into reading, which I love. I love engaging with other authors about their work & supporting them. :)
Maria Johnson I'd say don't give up! You never know what might happen with that thing you're writing. Believe in yourself, too, because almost all authors doubt at one point or other. I never would have dreamed my book would be published, but it was! It might happen for you, too! :)
Maria Johnson A few months ago I finished a round of edits of the sequel to 'The Boy from the Snow', continuing Daniel's journey. Since then I've put that on the back burner for a bit & am now about halfway through my first draft of a potential 3rd novel, so hoping it might become a trilogy one day! I'll keep you updated! :)
Maria Johnson I've always loved reading & writing, I can't remember a time when I wasn't making up stories or scribbling them down. I owe a lot to my grandmother for this, because whenever I'd see her or talk to her on the phone we'd chat about books, what she was reading & what I was reading. It's been my dream come true to have a book published! :)
Maria Johnson I've had the idea for my novel, 'The Boy from the Snow' in my head since I was seven. My brother used to build things with Lego & I would take the little Lego people to my room to play with them & make up stories. My favourites were a soldier character & a king character and pretty soon my main characters and the basic plot was born. I began scribbling it down when I was a teenager and began writing it more seriously in my twenties.
