I watch people. I don't mean in a creepy, hiding-in-the-bushes kind of way. I just try to deliberately pay attention to my surroundings, noticing the manner in which folks interact with each other in coffee shops, on the subways, on street corners, etc. And then, I let my imagination create the "what might happen next," moments from there.

I'm currently writing my second book, Dodging Bullets, which is a gritty thriller about domestic abuse and how far a mother will go to escape her past.
I've also written a short film thriller that I intend to shoot later this year.

I would give the same advice I'd give to aspiring actors and that is...just start! Referencing the Butterfly Effect, I would offer that making ANY movement toward your goal will alter your circumstances. Whether you find yourself presented with brand new opportunities or just discover a new path for how to pursue your objective, your perspective will be changed.

My favorite thing about being a writer is the freedom. There are absolutely no constraints or limitations to what I get to create other than those I impose on myself.

Writer's block can be maddening, but the best way I've found to combat it is to reset my focus. I walk away from the keyboard for a while, turning my attention to something which I know will fully distract me. Sometimes I watch a movie (I try to pick something that has the same vibe as whatever I'm working on-thriller vs. comedy, etc.) or I'll sit and listen to an entire album, allowing my mind to wander with each new song or lyric.
