Isobel Robertson I'm currently working on Kingdom of the Sea, the second book in the Selkie Kingdom series. I'm almost finished writing, and hope to have it out very soon. After that, I plan to write a few more short stories for the prequel series (Lady of the Icy Shores), and then I'll be back to the main Selkie Kingdom series.
Isobel Robertson Read! Start by reading fiction that you love - it's the best way to find inspiration and develop your style. But reading non-fiction is also important. I read books on creative writing, novel plotting, time management, marketing, mindset, and more. Even if I only get one nugget of information from each book, I consider it time very well spent.
Isobel Robertson Freedom. As a self-published fiction author, I can write whatever I want, whenever I want. I don't have deadlines, word counts, or rules. That can sometimes be harder than a straightforward day job but, for me, the freedom to decide for myself is more than worth it.
Isobel Robertson It depends exactly what you mean by writer's block! I never have trouble with ideas - if anything, I have too many. When it comes to actually sitting down and writing, I'm an obsessive planner, so I always know exactly what each scene needs to contain. Actually sitting down and starting to write, though... that can be difficult!
