None, really. That's an interesting question, but in reality, my life was pretty simple and without much mystery, but when I was growing up, there was one time, my dad was bringing us home and the police were across the street in our neighbor's drive. It sort of made us wonder what was happening. My dad opened the back door to the house but told us to wait. He walked in and then there was a bunch of noise. My brother and I jumped off the back porch and ran across the street to get the police. The police ran towards our house. Dad had to come out with his hands up, explaining to the police he tried to scare us, but didn't think we would run across the street. Although it was just a joke my dad was playing on us, I think I could have taken that incident and made some kind of story out of it.

I would go to the fictional world of mystery and suspense, where no one person was exactly who they seemed to be, I am the suspicious type, so I would look into the backgrounds of these people and decide for myself, are they good or evil, or are they fooling me, too. I am people watcher and love to see the full gamut of personalities, trying figure them out.

Write what you feel and enjoy the process. You will be criticized, but don't take it to heart. It is your work and be proud of it. When criticism comes, take it and use it to your benefit.

I think writing gives me the chance to express my views of life and how people think and act in certain situations. It allows my characters to think out loud and for me to examine their thoughts.

Sometimes I need to take a break and other times, I just need to spitball ideas with my editor, Linda Knight. We have outlining sessions and create some new ideas to write.

Music and good detective stories or movies. Music has always been something I try to relate to different parts of the story or to certain characters. I try to imagine a soundtrack playing in the background of the script I am writing.
