Steffanie Strathdee My next book will be fiction -- THANK GOD! But it's about a infectious disease epidemiologist, like me, who is trying to prevent the next viral pandemic. Think "Hot Zone" but with a woman scientist who has her own private demons she has to tackle before she can take on the planet's.
Steffanie Strathdee I carry around little scraps of paper --in my purse, briefcase, on my night-stand -- and whenever I get an idea, I scribble it down. When I get writer's block, I nibble at these nuggets and usually this helps me crack the nut!
Steffanie Strathdee When another patient was treated with the same therapy that cured Tom, we both knew that our story was "bigger than us." It's estimated that 10 million people could die each year from multi-drug resistant bacterial infections by 2050 unless urgent action is taken. Our story is about my fight to make sure that Tom didn't become one of those statistics. We were inspired to write this book to become part of the solution to the global superbug crisis.
