Carmen Cook I have met some of my best friends since becoming a writer. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. Because, lets face it, we all have a story.
Carmen Cook Not well. LOL
It really depends on why I have the block. Is it because the story isn't plotted out enough for me to continue? Is there a character weakness that I need to work through? Those I tend to be able to identify and knuckle down to work through. If the block is simply because I'm tired and can't think, I tend to try to do something else for a bit. I'm working on giving myself a break if things don't go exactly according to my plan. It's not easy!
Carmen Cook Write. Read. Find a writers group that's like minded to join. Write some more. Learning how to write isn't like it was back in school, it's much harder to write a novel. (At least it was for me!) Just keep at it and remember you improve with every word you write.
Carmen Cook I'm currently working on the next full length Sapphire Creek novel, Coming Home. You've met the heroine in Coming in Hot (Erin Chase) and you'll meet the hero in Coming Around.
Carmen Cook This is a tougher question to answer because I don't have one thing that really inspires me. I work outside the home and have a very active family, so I do a lot of my writing while in the car waiting for the kids to finish practice. It's more a matter of "do it now, or don't do it" rather than waiting for inspiration to strike.
Carmen Cook I grew up in MT, so when I was trying to figure out what exactly to write I started looking at the fascination so many people have with MT and the characters that live there.
Coming Around specifically, came while book 1 was in edits. My developmental editor insisted on knowing what happened with Bethany and Connor.
