After a lifetime of reading I'd have to think long and hard to aswer this question and even then I don't think I can come up with a single character as the top favourite. It would have to be a list, probably twenty or more, and all favourites for different reasons. So I'm going to side step this question and say my favourite is the best character in whatever I'm reading at the moment, and that would be Glynn in Penelope Lively's 'The Photograph'.

Seriously? Do you think I would share this rather than writing it up myself? Actually, I don't write mysteries or thrillers. Well, I hope some of my work is thrilling, but that is another matter. I do create what I think of as romance noir. In the great tradition of some classical writers, I make sure that my characters especially the heroes are laden down with troubles. So, I am sorry I don't have an answer to this question, for the reason indicated at the outset.

Currently reading Whit by Iain Banks. I'm binging Iain Banks, having read four other works by him this summer. Still waiting in my Kindle I have Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman, The Things I Know by Amanda Prowse and Woman of the Dunes by Sarah Maine. Plus there are a whole load of other titles waiting for Autumn reading.

My most recently published book, Love Forever was original created back in the 1980s, so sadly I cannot remember where I got the original idea from. I should say that it has been massively re-written and hardly any of the original still exists in the 2017 version.

That's a really difficult one to answer. Ideas come from all sorts of places. It can be an overheard fragment of conversation or a random thought while out doing the grocery shopping. I guess I am lucky to be blessed with an active imagination and it does not take much to fire it up.

Being able to create a world full of your own imagined people. Perhaps I am a control freak! But I really enjoy creating my imaginary people.

Plug on. If I get stuck then I just write anything at all - even if it is totally useless for the project. It keeps the wheels turning and it is surprising how once I get going, the block will go.
