Becca Fox I step away from the manuscript I'm working on when I experience writer's block. Sometimes, working on another story for a while or reading someone else's book or binge watching a random show on Netflix is like hitting the reset button. I come back to the computer refreshed and ready to keep going. Other times, all I have to do is talk about my story with my husband or my sister. Their unbiased opinions and original suggestions get the creative juices flowing. After a good, long conversation with either of them, and sometimes extensive notes, I return to the computer, enthusiastic about the next step for my characters.
Becca Fox The absolute best thing about being a writer is having an excuse to write. I'm not "killing time" or working on my "hobby" anymore. I'm doing my job. How cool is that?
Becca Fox Read and write and listen to critiques! It's what everyone says, I know, but there's a reason for that. Writing is a huge learning process that is never over. Even after you get published, keep learning. Your readers will thank you for it.
Becca Fox I'm currently bouncing back and forth between a new adult sci-fi fantasy story and another young adult romance. I was half way through the sci-fi manuscript when I became inspired to write the young adult romance. I have plans to complete both of them.
Becca Fox I have ideas for my novels constantly bouncing around my head. Half the time, I don't lack inspiration but time. The other half of the time, I read other published works. The words of great authors spur me onward, make me want to write something epic and inspiring.
Becca Fox My most recent book, In the Dark, was inspired by the question: "What if I was trapped somewhere with an ex?" Isn't that everyone's nightmare? I thought it would be fun to explore that question. Also, I'd never written about a hostage situation or werewolves so I thought I'd challenge myself by trying. It was a lot of fun!
