1)When submitting your work for review read the submission guidelines carefully and alter your doc to fit the requirements!
2) Don't be put off be rejections; I received plenty of replies saying that they had enjoyed my work but as I was an unknown author they didn't want to take a risk.
3) Don't jump at the first contract offered. Read it carefully, make sure your 100% happy with it and let any other publisher considering your text aware of the offer. I rejected several contracts until I found a publisher and contract that I was happy with.

I am currently working on the sequel to Regan Snatcher of Souls. I'm currently around halfway through the book, which will be almost double the length of Regan.
There's a lot more action in the sequel which has been/is great fun to write.
